Angry residents’ reps from Island Homes on the Isle of Dogs in east London demonstrated against managing director George Sheerin on Wednesday of last week in protest at the sacking of the resident-led board.

Sacked Tony Lane said, “One Housing Group, which has taken over the parent company of Island Homes, demanded the board sign new agreements which would have ruined our housing service and would have put residents in a minority on our own board.

“When the board refused, Sheerin sacked us. We were elected to represent residents, and that is what we did.”
