Oxford postal workers call for strike ballot

by Kevin Duffy, area delivery rep, Oxford CWU

Postal workers at five delivery offices in Oxford have asked for strike ballots after Royal Mail managers have forced them to take on extra work, without agreement with the union.

Managers are demanding that, in addition to their own delivery rounds – known as a walks – workers must take on parts of other walks that managers have “collapsed”.

We are urging Royal Mail to return to negotiations and discuss any changes to our working practices with the union. But if they do not, we will ballot for strikes.
