Network Rail strike set to go ahead

Issue No. 2107

Around 330 station staff in the RMT and TSSA rail workers’ unions are set to strike for 24 hours from Thursday of this week over compulsory redundancies at Network Rail.

The strike by managers, supervisors and other staff will hit 19 of the biggest stations in Britain.

These include London’s Kings Cross, Euston, Paddington, Liverpool Street, Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Leeds, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley.

The strike runs from 12 noon on Thursday to 11.59am on Friday.

TSSA members voted by 68 percent in favour of strike action over Network Rail’s failure to give a guarantee of no compulsory redundancies during a reorganisation of station management.

RMT members voted by five to one for action.
