Leeds demonstration for suspended ENEHL convenor

Over 30 Unison union members in Leeds demonstrated outside the Head Office of East North East Homes Leeds (ENEHL) last Thursday while a meeting of the board of directors was taking place.

The demonstration was in response to ENEHL suspending Unison convenor John McDermott for disobeying his managers’ orders not to carry out trade union duties.

One worker said, “It’s an absolute disgrace. We took strike action last week to defend our union. Instead of talking to us management have sent home our convenor for doing exactly what he is elected to do.”
