Around 180 Unite union members at two hospitals in Merseyside are set to strike on Thursday and Friday of this week over changes to their pay structure.
The workers, at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge hospitals, are angry over attempts by managers to impose monthly pay.
Low-paid workers, including porters, catering staff and cleaners, used to be paid weekly. They are now being forced to wait three weeks for their pay.
Unite members have already taken strike action on 25 and 26 July. They are set to strike from 6am on Thursday of this week until midnight on Friday.
Brian Nelson, Unite’s regional industrial organiser, said, “We had hoped that the trust would see sense and continue with a weekly payroll.
“It is particularly frustrating for our members when the trust can continue weekly payment for other NHS staff across the Wirral.
“This change in the payroll has come at a particularly difficult time for our members, with massive increases in gas, electricity and food prices and comes on top of the recent abolition of the 10p tax rate.”
