Thousands at Pride in Belfast

Issue No. 2113

Belfast saw its biggest ever Gay Pride event last Saturday as thousands of LGBT people and their supporters took to the streets to protest against the anti-gay Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) MP Iris Robinson.

Robinson has claimed that homosexuality is an “abomination”. This provoked an outcry, leading to a big turnout at the event.

Changing Attitude Ireland, a Christian group, joined the march for the first time in response to Robinson’s comments. There were also over 100,000 people in attendance at Brighton Pride last Saturday.
