Mahalla trial is adjourned in Egypt

Issue No. 2114

The trial of 49 Egyptian workers in Mahalla opened last Saturday, with 25 of the accused in a cage in court. The trial has been adjourned to 1 September.

The defendants are accused of involvement in the town’s two day uprising in April. International pressure has helped in getting other detainees released, so it is vital that trade unionists and activists keep up the pressure on the Egyptian dictatorship to release the Mahalla 49.
