Socialist Peoples Party stands in Barrow

Issue No. 2115

The Socialist Peoples Party in Barrow will be fighting a by-election in the Newbarns ward of Barrow in Cumbria on 4 September.

The party has already had successes in the area, winning four seats on the council.

It has campaignd against city academies and NHS cuts.

Sarah Martinez, the candidate for Newbarns said “The consultation on the academy was a fix and a sham – but even that failed to get the support of the people of Barrow.

“We demand the scrapping of the academy plan followed by a fair and representative consultation on any new scheme.”

This campaign also has strong anti-racist message.

Jim Hamezeian, a Socialist People’s Party councillor, said, “People in Barrow have no time for the British National Party. They see it for the racist party it is.

“Parts of Barrow are deprived, but it is campaigning with local people to save services – such as the hospital and the post office – that really improves lives.”

To help with the campaign call Jim on 07717 002 425 and meet at Barrow train station at 2pm on Sundays 24 and 31 August
