Some 34 scanner workers at Stansted Airport are set to strike on Friday of this week and Monday and Thursday of next week.
The workers in the GMB union who are employed by Airfield Services operate the security scanning equipment to check luggage going in to the holds of planes.
The GMB members have voted by 90 percent to reject the company’s pay offer of 2 percent which they increased from 1.5 percent following the August strike action.
Gary Pearce, GMB organiser said, “It was not a surprise that GMB members who had rejected an insulting 1.5 percent pay offer should reject an ‘improved’ offer of 2 percent. The resulting three days of strike action will demonstrate to Airport Services that these workers expect a proper pay rise and are willing to fight for it.”
