Sheffield academy ballot

Issue No. 2121

Sheffield council is running a ballot of parents over plans to transform Parkwood school into an academy.

The ballot involves parents at Parkwood and those at its feeder primary schools.

Anti-academies campaigners are organising to contact every parent to put the case against the academy and to fight for a no vote in the ballot.

The ballot ends on 22 October and campaigners have appealed for help from activists across the country. A day of action will be held on 4 October.

Croydon TUC called a meeting this week to organise and coordinate opposition to Croydon council’s plans to close a number of secondary schools and replace them with academies.
