Ford workers in Southampton walk out against closure

Issue No. 2124

Hundreds of workers at Ford's Southampton plant have walked out unofficially against threats of closure.

The action, which started on Monday of this week, involved around 400 workers who build Transit vans.

One worker told the Daily Echo newspaper, 'They will not shut this plant down without a fight. We are doing this to save our jobs.'

Another added, 'This walkout was organised by shop floor workers and we are willing to do whatever it takes to save our jobs.'
