A new photograph exhibition celebrates east London’s rich political history and the individuals who took a stand for their rights and to improve their quality of life.

In the past the locations photographed were witness to the struggles of suffragettes, low paid dock workers, teenage “match girls”, left wing councillors and communists opposing fascism.

Photographer Angela Stapleford has contributed to Socialist Worker. The exhibition is part of Photomonth, the east London photography festival.
