The Stop the War Coalition World Against War national tour has been a big success.
Across the country people have attended meetings to hear US activist Judith Le Blanc, Egyptian socialist Hossam el-Hamalawy, Iraqi activist Sami Ramadani and many others.
“There have been very good meetings at universities, with 40 people attending at Sussex University, 70 at Soas in London and 60 at Edinburgh University,” said Lindsey German, the Stop the War convenor.
“We also had successful meetings in cities, such as Cambridge, Leeds, Glasgow and Newcastle.
“The meetings are helping people prepare for the protest against the Nato alliance in Strasbourg in France in April next year.
“We are asking local and college groups to organise die-ins and vigils on 20 November to mark the seventh anniversary of the official end of the Afghanistan war and to call for the troops to come home.
Stop the War has also organised a public meeting on the US election, the economic crisis and the war in central London, with speakers including Tony Benn, journalist Jonathan Steele, former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzam Begg and others.
The US election, economic crisis and the war, 7pm, Monday 3 November, Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London. For more information go to » www.stopwar.org.uk
