Karen Reissmann's dismisser complains of unfair dismissal

by Colin Barker
Issue No. 2125

The manager who sacked Unison union activist and nurse Karen Reissmann last year is now taking action herself for unfair dismissal.

Karen was sacked last year by Manchester community and mental health trust after speaking out against privatisation and cuts.

The person who sacked her was Sheila Foley, at that time the Trust’s chief executive.

In July she telephoned the Trust from her holiday home in Dubai, to announce her resignation “for personal reasons”.

Now the same Sheila Foley is herself seeking compensation from an employment tribunal for unfair dismissal!

Karen’s own employment tribunal is scheduled to start on 26 January 2009.

Messages of support for Karen to Unison Manchester Community and Mental Health Branch c/o Unison office, Chorlton House, 70 Manchester Rd, Manchester M21 9UN
