Leading London trade unionists and People Before Profit Charter supporters are joining together to mount a response to George Bush’s International Economic Summit.
On the eve of Bush’s summit, Friday 14 November, a protest is being called outside the Treasury in London by UCU London Region with support from FBU, CWU and PCS union activists and the backers of the Charter.
Ten days later working people in London will have their chance to say what they want to see as a response
to the crisis when the People’s Alternative Economic Summit meets in central London.
Tony Benn and Labour MP Jeremy Corbyn will join leading trade unionists
and supporters of the Charter at an event where the left can respond to Bush’s plans to rescue the rich from the effects of he crisis.
Every trade union branch, pensioners’ organisation, housing group and Stop the War branch should mobilise for these events.
Contributors to the conference will be able to make their case about what they think the government should do in the face of the economic meltdown.
