Some 400 demonstrators took to the streets of the Canary Wharf financial district of London on Friday of last week for a lively protest against the bankers’ bailout.

There were also protests in Edinburgh and Cardiff. Around 80 students from across Scotland marched on the HBOS bank headquarters in Edinburgh to demand a “bailout for the people”. Around 50 protesters joined the People Before Profit Charter protest in Cardiff – which involved lively street theatre depicting Gordon Brown and a fat cat.
