Postal workers

Issue No. 1771

SUPPORT IS growing for Mark Dolan, the post worker and union activist in north London who faces the sack. Management have accelerated the normal disciplinary code. They have already said Mark is guilty of harassment and gross misconduct. They will now have formal interviews and hearings!

A worker at the NDO office made a complaint against Mark after he had overheard a discussion about the World Trade Centre suicide attacks. When Mark tried to settle the matter amicably the same worker than made a further complaint. Post bosses are out to get Mark as an example to every CWU postal workers' union activist.

The North/North West London CWU union has launched a campaign to defend Mark and to scupper management's myths about the case. If you would like campaign material phone 020 7239 3477.

NEWTON Abbot delivery office in Devon was set to strike for a day on Friday of this week and on Friday of next week. The action is in support of a colleague who they believe was unfairly dismissed.

Workers at Honiton delivery office in Devon were expecting to be balloted over a similar issue, although this may be put on hold after the 'no- strike' deal between union leaders and Royal Mail.
