BUS WORKERS employed by the giant Stagecoach company in the north east of England have voted for a series of one-day strikes over pay, due to start on Friday of this week. Multi-millionaire Brian Souter runs Stagecoach.
Souter has refused to offer the 1,000 workers in depots across Newcastle, Sunderland and South Shields a decent pay rise. The workers, members of the TGWU and GMB unions, have rejected three pay offers from their management.
Pay negotiations have dragged on since May, but the workers are still determined to fight for a wage increase.
