A World In Crisis conference will discuss alternatives

Issue No. 2128

The collapse of the system's neoliberal economic certainties over the last few weeks has meant that millions of people are questioning capitalism and want answers.

On Saturday 6 December the Socialist Workers Party is hosting the A world in crisis: the case for socialism conference to help answer their questions.

Among the speakers will be Tony Benn, Lindsey German, Fabio Amato from Rifondazione Comunista in Italy, István Mészáros, Moazzam Begg, Alex Callinicos and Paul Gilroy.

Over 500 people have already registered for the event, including large numbers of students.

Millie Fry, from Leeds Metropolitan University, says, 'Students here have been really inspired about the event and we've been reaching out to activists and people in the movement.

'People really want to come and find explanations for what's happening to the world and to hear our ideas and explanations of the crisis.

'Having a big socialist presence on campus has helped us argue that we should not pay the price for their crisis.'
