BT workers march for jobs

Issue No. 2129

Around 50 members of the CWU union who work for British Telecom protested in Coventry against management’s use of performance management to intimidate staff.

Workers came from Coventry, Birmingham, Rugby and Warwickshire. Many arrived during the protest as they finished their shifts on the cold and wet Friday evening.

They marched from the BT offices in Mile Lane to the telephone exchange at Little Park Street. One worker said “People have had enough, they’re prepared to come from miles away today to make their protest to the management here.”
