Eurostar workers vote for strikes

Issue No. 2130

Train managers in the RMT and TSSA transport unions at Eurostar have voted overwhelmingly to strike after the company imposed new rosters. This breaches an agreement that requires new shift patterns to be negotiated and approved by union reps.

RMT members voted by 60 to four for strike action and by 58 to six for action short of a strike on an 83 percent turnout, and TSSA members voted by 11 to four for strike action and by 12 to three for action short of a strike on a 94 percent turnout.

The unions are now urging Eurostar to withdraw the disputed rosters and negotiate in order to avoid action in the run-up to Christmas.
