Defending council housing

Issue No. 2130

Some 200 people attended the Defend Council Housing (DCH) conference on Tuesday of last week.

Delegates from at least 51 local authorities attended, including council tenants, councillors and trade unionists, along with housing professionals and academics. Speakers included Frank Dobson MP, Heather Wakefield, national secretary of the Unison union, Wilf Flynn from the Ucatt union and professor Peter Ambrose.

The conference was a good opportunity for activists to share their experiences and focused on the need to build up grassroots tenants’ organisations in every city across Britain.
