Tube shift workers call for pay parity

Issue No. 2131

Shift workers responsible for fault-finding and maintaining the electrical supply on London Underground took their second 36-hour strike this week.

The RMT union members were striking after EDF Energy Powerlink, their employer, refused a claim for pay parity with day workers.

Day work staff have received a £3,000 pay increase for flexible working – but this has not been given to “shift testers”.

The 25 workers from both day and night shifts struck from 7.59pm last Sunday to 7.59am on Tuesday of this week.
