Aberdeen workers vote to accept improved offer

Issue No. 2132

Workers at First Bus in Aberdeen have voted by 304 to 64 to accept an improved pay offer of 4.5 percent plus a one-off payment of £100 and full back pay to 1 April.

Drivers, mechanics and cleaners in the Unite union held a solid strike two weeks ago. They had threatened to strike on the two weekends leading up to Christmas, in pursuit of a 5 percent pay claim.

Management originally offered just 3.75 percent but the strike forced them to raise the offer.
