Wirral organises fight against cuts

Issue No. 2136

Over 50 people attended a meeting on Monday of last week in the Wirral to discuss the campaign against planned cutbacks to services in the area.

The council has proposed getting rid of 13 branch libraries, 22 community centres, seven youth clubs, five leisure centres and two museums.

Despite widespread opposition, the council has confirmed that it plans to go ahead with the majority of the closures.

The meeting agreed to establish a committee to coordinate the campaign against the cuts.
