CHIEF EXECUTIVES of Britain's top companies have pay and bonus packages that on average are 94 times higher than their workforces', according to research by the Trades Union Congress. Another report found that some bosses think they are worth even more.
Geoff Mulcahy of Kingfisher stores group grabs £2,062,000. That is 268 times what his average worker gets. Mulcahy 'loves sailing' and owns two yachts.
Nicholas Oppenheim of Northern Leisure collects 216 times a worker's wage.
Sir Clive Thompson, chief executive of Rentokil and president of the bosses' CBI, gets 150 times what one of his workers can expect.
Average executive salaries are now £420,000 a year.
