The carnage in Gaza is the latest reflection of Tony Blair’s “success” in his role as Middle East peace envoy.
It’s bad enough that Blair has been charged with the task of promoting peace in the Middle East. But it turns out that we are the ones paying for it.
The foreign office has forked out £500,000 in office costs, staff and expenses for Blair to carry out this role. This is despite the fact that he is in the Middle East, in Jerusalem, for an average of just one week a month.
Blair has made an estimated £15 million so far since being forced out of Downing Street.
Yet unsurprisingly for the millions who marched against his warmongering, he has brought peace to nowhere.
