BBC World Service workers to strike

Issue No. 2139

Workers at the BBC World Service in the NUJ union have voted overwhelmingly for strike action over plans for redundancies, job relocations and for shifting programme making operations overseas.

The NUJ ballot saw some 87 percent voting for strike action on a 73 percent turnout.

BBC World Service workers in the Bectu union affected by the proposed changes have also been balloted for strike action. Their result is due to be announced later this week.
