Supporters of the Viva Palestina convoy heading to Gaza have become the most recent victims of anti-terror legislation.
Nine people were arrested as they travelled in a mini-convoy on the M26 motorway from Burnley and Blackburn to London on Friday of last week.
Their vans had posters reading “Stop killing children, free Palestine” and “From Blackburn (UK) to Gaza.”
Police shut off the motorway and searched the vehicles. The people within them were then taken to a police station, where six were released and the three others detained.
All of those arrested were Muslims.
The people arrested were heading to join a convoy of 100 vehicles driving to Gaza with £1 million of aid donated by people across Britain. The convoy, organised by George Galloway MP, set off from Hyde Park in London last Saturday.
