Case against Yunus Bakhsh in disarray

Issue No. 2141

The disarray over the case of Yunus Bakhsh – who was sacked from his job and expelled from the Unison union – has deepened still further.

Recent revelations about Yunus’s main accuser, should have fatally undermined the whole procedure. Instead some leading members of the Unison region tabled a motion to a regional committee that sought to vilify some Unison members who have raised the issues of racism that surround the expulsion and sacking.

However when it came to the meeting they decided to remit the motion and not put it to the vote.

Yunus’s defence campaign got a very warm response from people attending a Hope Not Hate event in Durham last weekend.

Meanwhile the recent exposure of the case in Private Eye has led to an increase in support for Yunus – some of it from unexpected sources.
