The fascist British National Party (BNP) was forced to cancel a fundraising dinner in south Gloucester last Sunday after Unite Against Fascism mobilised against the event.
Some 35 people turned out to oppose the BNP gathering, including local Labour MP David Drew and trade unionists from the FBU, UCU and NUT unions.
Protesters gathered at the venue where the event was booked in order to blockade the road. The manager came out to say he had cancelled the booking and closed the venue.
BNP thugs in suits were later seen at the meeting point turning others away.
