Mood for strike at Bolton academy

by Barry Conway, secretary Bolton NUT
Issue No. 2142

A dispute is raging in the Essa academy, formerly Hayward school, in Bolton over management plans to rip up trade union agreements reached with workers in various unions at the school.

Last week the NUT, NASUWT, Unison, GMB and ATL unions officially registered a dispute with Essa management. NUT and Unison members have already met and indicated their willingness to strike to defend the agreement.

Management is trying every trick in the book to divide the unions. But it is having the opposite effect – members of all unions are pulling together in a united fight against the management.

Messages of support should be sent to Andy Peters at the NUT andi644@aol.com and Andrew McClelland at Unisonandmcu@hotmail.com
