Campaign Against Climate Change Trade Union conference

Some 160 delegates attended the Campaign Against Climate Change Trade Union conference on Saturday of last week.

The conference looked at ways that trade unionists can raise the issue of climate change. In particular delegates discussed the idea of a “just transition” – ensuring that workers do not pay the price for the transition to a low carbon economy.

Delegates argued that government investment to create green jobs could tackle climate change and help pull the world out of recession. But they saw a gulf between the actions of world leaders and the needs of ordinary people and the planet.
