We’re All Criminals Now - The Pet Shop Boys

by Simon Byrne
Issue No. 2144

The Pet Shop Boys have just released Yes, their brilliant tenth studio album.

But the most exciting part of the Pet Shop Boys’ new material is a track you may find difficult to come by.

“We’re All Criminals Now” is typical Pet Shop Boys with its disco beat and fabulous keyboard melodies. But what stands out is its lyrical content.

It’s an obvious attack on the police killing of Jean Charles de Menezes.

It’s just a shame it’s only available on their Love etc EP by digital download.

The Boys follow on from their 2006 album Fundamental with more politically charged lyrics about the erosion of civil liberties – a subject they have often spoken about.
