Bus workers fight for conditions

Issue No. 2144

Drivers in the Unite union working for First Bus in Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster in South Yorkshire have voted by 403 to 42 in favour of strike action in a consultative ballot.

The ballot was over the sacking of a union rep at the Sheffield depot.

Meanwhile the GMB union at Brighton Bus Company is demanding that the company installs safety screens on all of its buses.

At least 15 drivers have been assaulted over the last year.
