More council workers in Glasgow to be balloted on pay

Issue No. 2145

Community service supervisors in Glasgow are entering their 13th week of indefinite strikes over single status grading – and their action remains solid.

The strikers feel there has been some limited progress in recent negotiations, the first talks since the strike begun.

Management offered some concessions on weekend working, but there was no progress on grading issues. Senior councillors agreed to look at the issue again, and further talks will to take place.

A strike ballot of the entire Unison union branch membership of 11,000 to defend those who face pay cuts was set to begin on Wednesday of this week, lasting for three weeks.
