Socialist Worker

Calcutta Grove - Sean Taylor

by Emma Lightfoot
Issue No. 2146

London-based singer‑songwriter Sean Taylor has been praised for his modern protest songs and compared to the likes of Tom Waits and even Bob Dylan.

His talent and fresh approach to political song make his music accessible to a generation relatively untouched by the protest songs of the 1960s.

His bluesy style is well suited to songs like “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues”, which shows off both his guitar skills and his emotive lyrics. Calcutta Grove is fantastically delivered and a thoroughly enjoyable listen.
