Within an hour of being told by Visteon that they were sacked, workers at the company’s Belfast plant were holding protests and appealing for solidarity.
The workers, both Catholic and Protestant, are fighting together to save their jobs.
Belfast Visteon worker Janet says, “I’ve spent more time here than I’ve spent at home – we had good craic, a good carry-on, and its a 50/50 workforce in terms of Catholics and Protestants.
“There’s people here with over 30 years’ experience. They came to work right through the Troubles – through barricades and bombs – but yet this is the way Ford wants to shaft us.”
