JCB threatens workers’ future

Issue No. 2147

Workers at JCB are coming to the end of the short working hours deal they agreed to last year.

The GMB union signed up to the deal in order to prevent job cuts. The company has pushed through 1,600 redundancies since the deal was signed.

Gordon Richardson, GMB convenor in Rochester, said, “People here are desperate to fight for their jobs and that is exactly how we would want them to be.

“People are forcing the trade union to work harder for them and that is what we have to do. We are fighting for our members to keep the jobs.”
