Union leaders from Unite, GMB and Unison unions met on Tuesday last week to discuss public sector pay.
The meeting was held by the National Joint Council and decided not to recommend an insulting 0.5 percent pay increase and have instead demanded talks on 22 April with council bosses.
It is interesting to note that authorities have budgeted up to 2.5 percent for pay rises for workers.
Workers must fight for decent pay and conditions and unite to save jobs.
Voting in the Unison national executive elections began on 14 April. For a list of those standing on the Left Slate go to » www.unisonleft.wordpress.com
