Socialist Worker

Baghdad Of The Mind

Issue No. 2148

Before the rise of Saddam Hussein and the Iraq war, Baghdad was a city of learning and culture, which inspired poets, writers and artists across the world.

In this programme, Iraqi poets in exile Salih Niazi, Fawzi Karim and Nabeel Yasin reflect on the city they have left and how it still influences their work.

This is a fascinating exploration of a part of Iraqi life that is hardly mentioned in the media any more.
