The row over MPs’ expenses just won’t go away.
Parliament voted last week to censor some of the details of MPs’ expenses claims, due to be published this summer.
Among the information to be kept secret is the names of hotels on trips, the destinations of taxis and the names of shops.
This will be good news for many MPs.
It was reported last week that some MPs were on “suicide watch” because of concerns over what the expenses might show.
It was rumoured that at least two MPs were fearful as they were having affairs with other MPs, which would be exposed by double claims for the same hotel rooms.
But the scams aren’t just about expenses. Foreign secretary David Miliband has put out to tender for a jet to transport him around the world. The cost of a single trip to the US and back would be £250,000.
