Ship’s crew stranded without pay

Issue No. 2152

The Russian crew of the freighter OMG Kolpino have now been marooned in Avonmouth docks for over two months.

They have received no pay since December.

The vessel, which is based offshore, is owned by Oslo Marine. The company has gone bankrupt leaving 12 crew, and that of its sister ship docked in France, in limbo.

The ship has been impounded at Avonmouth because the owner has outstanding debts.

The crew are being fed and looked after by trade unions and the local Seaman’s Mission.

Crew member Andrey Shakhovskiy joined last Saturday’s jobs march in Birmingham.
