Ghetto Biennale: A Salon des Refusés for the 21st century

Issue No. 2153

The Sculptors of Grand Rue district of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, plan to hold their first “Ghetto Biennale” in December.

They are inviting artists, filmmakers, photographers, musicians, architects, writers and others to present or witness work that will be shown in their neighbourhood.

The Grand Rue movement has produced world renowned art that reflects a heightened, dystopian view of society, culture and religion.

The event will take place at the beginning of December.

Artists will spend one or two weeks in Haiti before presenting their work to an audience of local people.

The deadline for applications is 15 June.
