WORKERS AT British Airways at Heathrow Airport are still up in arms over management's plans to sell off three sections of the Information Management Department. Union shop stewards voted unanimously last week to call for a ballot for strike action. Stewards were planning this week to hold union meetings of the workforce to build the mood and a demonstration is also planned.

SOME 60 people attended a rally called by the Glasgow Campaign Against Housing Stock Transfer and the North West Community Alliance in George Square, Glasgow, on Monday of this week. The speakers included Tommy Sheridan of the Scottish Socialist Party, Dave Sherry, a TGWU housing association convenor, and Dorothy Grace Elder MSP.

WORKERS from Daks Simpson in Glasgow held a protest outside the Argyle Street branch of Marks and Spencer last week. Members of the GMB were protesting about the threat to 600 jobs because M&S has cancelled an order. It is moving a clothing contract abroad because of falling profits.

ANTI-NAZIS in Burnley, Lancashire, are set to protest against a local newspaper that is giving a platform for the Nazi British National Party.

The Burnley Express has been publishing letters from a local Nazi attacking Burnley independent Labour councillor Andy Holder, who has a proud history of taking a stand against racism and fascism. The local branch of the GMB union is to organise a delegation to the editor of the Express asking him not to publish any more Nazi letters.
