700 at Stop the War fundraiser

Issue No. 2153

Over 700 people attended a fundraiser organised by the Stop the War Coalition at London’s Hackney Empire last week.

The event, titled Two Plays for Gaza, raised money for both the rebuilding of the Gaza music school and for future campaigning by Stop the War.

The two plays, Caryl Churchill’s Seven Jewish Children and The Trainer by David Wilson and Ann Ayler, were complemented with speeches, poetry and music from the rapper Lowkey and the Palestinian singer Reem Khalani.

The next Stop the War fundraiser will be at the Vibe Bar in London’s Brick Lane on June 11. Acts include Lowkey and Peyote for President
