Fight against militant’s sacking

Issue No. 2153

A ballot for strike action is underway at the Linamar (ex-Visteon) plant in Swansea, south Wales, in defence of sacked Unite union convenor Rob Williams. The result of the ballot is due on Wednesday.

Rob, a well-known trade unionist and socialist, was sacked at the end of April.

“We are getting the word out about the campaign,” Rob told Socialist Worker. “I’ve had excellent support from trade unionists – I’ve spoken at the Wales TUC and at a fringe meeting at PCS conference this week.

“People know what’s at stake. Lots of workers are under attack and can understand why this dispute is so important.

“I am hopeful that we will get a good vote for action in the ballot.”
