LOW PAID workers at Pricecheck supermarkets may be on the verge of winning union recognition this week. Pricecheck's millionaire bosses were set to meet the workers' TGWU union to discuss recognition after Socialist Worker went to press.
This week sees the first anniversary of the mainly Asian workforce's campaign to win union recognition at the company's nine stores. The workers have carried out a high profile campaign involving large protests outside the stores. These pickets were supported by trade unions from across London. A victory at Pricecheck could see more union recognition disputes by low paid shop workers across Britain.
