QinetiQ workers vote for industrial action

Issue No. 2154

Workers at defence research firm QinetiQ have voted in favour of taking industrial action in protest at a pay freeze.

Prospect said its 2,000 members voted by 3-1 to support a campaign of strikes, while most backed other forms of industrial action, such as a ban on overtime.

National officer David Luxton said the outcome of the ballot showed the strength of feeling among members over the pay freeze.

The firm employs over 7,000 staff in the UK and operates over 40 sites with major facilities located at Farnborough in Hampshire, Malvern in Worcestershire and Boscombe Down, Wiltshire.
