There are two vital elections happening in the National Union of Teachers (NUT).
NUT associations are currently considering nominations for the positions of union deputy general secretary, treasurer and two vice-presidents.
It is vital for left activists to seek to get nominations onto the agenda of their upcoming NUT meetings and then to fight for the left candidates to win the nomination.
Nominations for the national officers close on 30 September and for the deputy general secretary on 2 December.
Activists should back left campaigners Ian Murch for treasurer, Ken Cridland and Nina Franklin for the vice-presidents, and Kevin Courtney for deputy general secretary.
